Wigan Launches Comprehensive Pressure Ulcer Campaign

This month (April 2012) has seen the launch of the new pressure ulcer prevention campaign for Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust. The launch took place at St Peters Pavilion in Hindley where Director of Patient and Nursing Services for the Trust, Gill Harris, outlined her support for the campaign which is being led by tissue viability nurses, Lindsey Bullough and Karen Patterson.

Better Education Will Prevent Pressure Ulcers

Pressure ulcers have been a major focus for both central Government and the Department of Health over the last 18 months. The visibility of this often hidden condition is increase in the general population. With this increased visibility comes a new challenge for healthcare professionals. Preventing pressure ulcers is now equally as important as preventing MRSA and CDif but the reality is there are far fewer resources to do this with.
